About the role#
This Purchasing Co-Op position sits within the Global Supply Management division at Nexteer Automotive. You will work directly with the Commercial team, which includes strategic and operational buyers. This role provides exposure to the sourcing process, supplier relationship management, and cost competitiveness projects.
What you'll do#
- Support buyers with supplier follow-ups and administrative tasks.
- Maintain the list of suppliers on New Business Hold and track missing documentation.
- Process Supplier Change Requests.
- Update supplier quality certifications, financial records, and CTPAT information in Intelex.
- Create and improve spreadsheets, databases, and programs to track department metrics.
- Assist with sending Requests for Quotation to suppliers, gathering responses, and performing summary analysis.
- Help supervisors prepare training materials.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelors program for Supply Chain or a related field.
- Attendance at a college or university local to Saginaw.
- Full-time student status (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including macros, pivot tables, and vlookups.
- Ability to work 20-32 hours per week during the Fall and Winter semesters and up to 40 hours during the summer.
