Paid News Intern

About the role#

WROC-TV and Rochesterfirst.com offer a part-time paid internship program through The New York State Broadcasters Association. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of a television station. Participants will rotate through various departments to understand the vision and creativity required to produce a newscast.

What you'll do#

• Gain firsthand experience in how a television station functions.
• Rotate through key departments including News Operations, Production/Creative Services, Digital Operations, and Technical/Engineering.
• Collaborate with station staff to support daily broadcast and digital production.

What you'll need#

• Must be at least 17 years of age.
• Currently a resident of New York State or attending school in New York.
• Strong comprehensive writing and communication skills.
• A professional demeanor with a commitment to high standards of excellence.
• Ability to work a specified schedule and maintain business attire.
• Must have reliable transportation and flexibility in scheduling.
• Currently pursuing studies in Communications, Journalism, or Media Studies.

• Compensation: $16.00 per hour.
