About the role#
WIAT CBS 42 in Birmingham, Alabama, is seeking a Human Resources Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This internship provides hands-on exposure to the daily operations and strategic functions of human resources within a media environment. This is an unpaid position designed for students to gain professional experience for academic credit.
What you'll do#
- Assist with HR initiatives, employee programs, and process improvements.
- Conduct research and provide recommendations on HR best practices and trends.
- Support pre-boarding activities to help new employees get started.
- Manage documentation by filing records and responding to inquiries from employees and clients.
- Draft internal communications and correspondence regarding HR policies and updates.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a junior or senior pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Organizational Development.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, or weekends.
- A collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow all company safety rules and procedures.
