About the role#
Navitas Systems is seeking a Data Engineering Intern to join the Business Intelligence & Systems team. This role focuses on building and maintaining the data pipelines, integrations, and warehouse infrastructure that support analytics and reporting. You will work directly with enterprise systems to contribute to the development of a data platform while gaining experience in SQL development, ETL/ELT design, and data modeling.
What you'll do#
- Assist in designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines to move data from source systems into the central data warehouse.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and views using SQL Server.
- Support the design and implementation of star schema models, data marts, and semantic layers for downstream reporting.
- Connect and integrate enterprise systems, including ERP, MES, CRM, and other platforms, into the central data architecture.
- Build validation checks to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Monitor pipeline health, resolve data issues, and automate refresh cadences to reduce manual reporting overhead.
- Document data sources, transformations, schemas, and lineage to support data governance efforts.
- Manage work tasks using Jira and maintain documentation within Microsoft SharePoint.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, including joins, aggregations, subqueries, and window functions, against relational databases like SQL Server.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, data warehousing fundamentals, and relational data modeling.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language, with a preference for Python.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint for collaboration and documentation.
- Familiarity with Jira or similar work management tools.
