About the role#
Navitas Systems is seeking a Data Engineering Intern to join the Business Intelligence & Systems team for the Summer 2026 term. This role focuses on building and maintaining the data pipelines, integrations, and warehouse infrastructure that support analytics and reporting. You will work directly with enterprise systems to contribute to the foundation of a data platform in a manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist in designing, building, and maintaining ETL and ELT pipelines to move data from source systems into the central data warehouse.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and views within SQL Server databases.
- Support the design and implementation of star schema models and data marts to feed downstream reporting tools.
- Integrate enterprise systems, including ERP, MES, and CRM platforms, into the central data platform.
- Build validation checks to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Monitor pipeline health, resolve data issues, and automate reporting tasks.
- Document data sources, transformations, schemas, and lineage to support data governance.
- Use Jira for task management and SharePoint for documentation and collaboration.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, including joins, aggregations, subqueries, and window functions.
- Understanding of ETL and ELT concepts, data warehousing fundamentals, and relational data modeling.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language, with a preference for Python.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint for documentation and Jira for work management.
- Familiarity with SQL Server or comparable relational database management systems.
