About the role#
The Quality Engineering Intern supports lithium-ion cell and battery pack production. You will be assigned a specific project and receive mentorship from a member of the quality team. This role requires physical presence on-site in Ann Arbor to perform technical support tasks related to calibration, inspections, data analysis, and documentation.
What you'll do#
- Support manufacturing design of experiments (DOE), testing, and data collection.
- Assist with 8D problem solving, non-conforming material, and corrective or preventative action activities.
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and outgoing inspections and document the results.
- Support calibration activities and maintain work instructions, inspection forms, and process maps.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to implement approved process changes and assist in process optimization studies.
- Manage and analyze production data, including test data, Pareto charts, and yield data.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area according to 5S standards.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, Environmental, or Computer Engineering.
- Ability to work at least 30 hours per week on-site.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, for data management and analysis.
- Willingness to learn how to operate inspection equipment such as 3D scanners, SEM, and optical comparators.
- Strong verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 40-pound loads several times per day.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
