About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience with the foster care population in Augusta, Georgia. You will work closely with youth, families, foster parents, and community partners. Throughout the term, you will have opportunities to observe various therapeutic areas to gain insight into the clients and communities we serve. This is an on-site, full-time, unpaid position for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support foster care youth and foster parents through case management.
- Learn to create diagnostic assessments and treatment plans.
- Assess and engage with youth directly.
- Observe professional interventions for youth.
- Coordinate with caregivers, parents, school staff, office staff, and mental health professionals.
- Complete documentation and required paperwork.
- Travel daily to provide community-based services to youth and families.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor or Master of Social Work program at an accredited college or university.
- The internship must be a requirement of your institution, and you must receive academic credit upon completion.
- Proficiency with computers, tablets, smartphones, and software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- A valid driver license, a good driving record, and reliable personal transportation.
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 for bodily injury liability.
