About the role#
The National Youth Advocate Program is looking for interns to join the Behavioral Health team in Columbus for the Winter 2027 term. This is an on-site, full-time internship designed to provide hands-on experience working with youth, families, foster parents, and community partners. You will have the opportunity to observe various therapeutic areas within the agency to gain insight into the communities and clients we serve.
What you'll do#
- Provide individual, group, and family mental health services.
- Manage cases and coordinate services, including medical, educational, and vocational support.
- Travel to provide community-based services to youth and families.
- Assist in family reunification and stabilization efforts.
- Regularly review and modify youth-based plans to ensure progress toward goals.
- Complete all required documentation and training in a timely manner.
- Participate in weekly supervision.
- Provide transportation as needed.
- Work to meet or exceed established outcomes thresholds.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a comparable Human Services field.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Master’s program for Social Work or Clinical Counseling.
- Verification that this internship or field placement is a requirement for your degree.
- Valid LSW, SWT, or CT licensure.
- Proficiency with computers, tablets, smartphones, and office equipment like printers and fax machines.
- Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
- A valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and reliable personal transportation.
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 for bodily injury liability.
