About the role#
Rust Automation & Controls Inc is hiring an Outside Sales Intern for Summer 2027. This 10 to 12 week position is based in Irvine, California. You will work in a hybrid capacity, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. This is a paid, full-time internship designed to provide direct exposure to a career in technical sales.
What you'll do#
- Join sales calls with Outside Sales Engineers, Business Development Managers, and leadership to observe technical conversations with plant engineers and end users.
- Focus on a single product category to gain deep expertise.
- Build a demo presentation and present it to customers during lunch and learns.
- Identify new target accounts and research companies to find the right contacts.
- Reach out to prospective customers to set up introductory meetings.

- Energy for learning a product inside and out.
- The ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- A preference for talking to real people over staying behind a desk.
- Initiative to handle research and outreach independently.
