About the role#
This Underwriting Co-op position offers an opportunity to apply your academic training within the insurance industry. You will work closely with underwriters and managers in our Toronto office, supporting Temple Insurance Company. You will be coached by industry professionals and gain exposure to leadership as you build a foundation for your career.
What you'll do#
- Set up new business for Casualty and Property underwriters.
- Prepare quotes, binders, and loss runs.
- Assist with file completeness audits and analyze client submissions.
- Request and follow up on missing account information.
- Prepare reports using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Research for client events and promotional materials.
- Attend luncheons with corporate underwriters and clients.
- Provide general assistance to department managers as required.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or an equivalent program with a focus on insurance.
- Healthy academic standing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including formal and informal presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong mathematical aptitude and organizational skills.
- Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
- Capability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrable leadership qualities including curiosity, integrity, and drive.
- Preference for candidates who have completed at least one previous work placement.

- Location: Toronto, Ontario.
- Term: Winter 2027 (8 or 12 months).
- Work Modality: Hybrid (3 days per week in the office).
- Status: Paid, full-time position.
