About the role#
As a Data Science Intern at Munich Re, you will join our team in Hartford to work on large scale machine learning projects. You will support our insurance, engineering, or technology solution business areas. This position is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Use large data sets to identify opportunities for product and process optimization.
- Write well-documented, production-level code.
- Participate in community outreach initiatives.
- Gain hands-on experience and build professional relationships with leadership and staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an MS or PhD program in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related applied science. Exceptional undergraduate students will also be considered.
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, or SQL.
- Practical knowledge of statistical methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic software engineering skills, including Git, API development, Docker containers, and DevOps best practices.
- Experience with Spark, distributed computing, Azure cloud development, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or generative AI models is preferred.
