About the role#
We are looking for an HVAC Maintenance Intern to join our Facilities Operations team. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Amelia, Ohio, running through December 2026. You will work alongside experienced professionals to gain hands-on experience in the operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC systems and facility equipment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with preventive maintenance on equipment like air handling units, condenser units, and exhaust systems.
- Support troubleshooting and corrective maintenance for HVAC and facility systems.
- Perform routine inspections and operational checks of building equipment.
- Monitor and respond to alerts from Building Automation Systems and building monitoring systems.
- Handle filter changes, belt replacements, lubrication, and general equipment upkeep.
- Record maintenance activities, equipment readings, and work order updates.
- Support facility maintenance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with maintenance technicians, contractors, and facility personnel.
- Follow all safety procedures, environmental guidelines, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Participate in training and development opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited HVAC, Facilities Management, Building Systems, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or related technical program.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, climb ladders, and work in mechanical spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor environmental conditions and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Prior coursework or hands-on experience with HVAC systems, familiarity with Building Automation Systems or computerized maintenance management systems, and an understanding of preventive maintenance practices are preferred.
