About the role#
The Hardcoat Research and Development Intern will support NPI programs and platforms. You will build structure-property knowledge and investigate how formulation or processing changes affect hardcoat performance. This role involves documenting and standardizing developmental data.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to Hardcoat Thermal Cure Next Generation Platforms.
- Research how chemistry and process parameters influence chemical resistance, adhesion, and cracking.
- Test the effects of additives to improve adhesion across various substrate types.
- Study how pigments and matte agents impact appearance and performance.
- Develop in-house test methods for the consumer and industrial sectors.
- Work on improving the performance of metal protection hardcoats and anti-fingerprint coatings.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Comfort working in a wet chemistry lab.
- Experience with physical property testing and characterization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft tools like Excel and PowerPoint, plus experience with Sharepoint.
- Preferred experience includes coating processes, polymer chemistry, mechanical property testing, and statistical data analysis.
Location & details#
- Location: Waterford, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027 (10-12 weeks between May and August).
- Status: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Modality: On-site.
- Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour.
