    About the role#

    The Hardcoat Research and Development Intern will support NPI programs and platforms. You will build structure-property knowledge and investigate how formulation or processing changes affect hardcoat performance. This role involves documenting and standardizing developmental data.

    What you'll do#

    • Contribute to Hardcoat Thermal Cure Next Generation Platforms.
    • Research how chemistry and process parameters influence chemical resistance, adhesion, and cracking.
    • Test the effects of additives to improve adhesion across various substrate types.
    • Study how pigments and matte agents impact appearance and performance.
    • Develop in-house test methods for the consumer and industrial sectors.
    • Work on improving the performance of metal protection hardcoats and anti-fingerprint coatings.

    What you'll need#

    • Active enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Comfort working in a wet chemistry lab.
    • Experience with physical property testing and characterization.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft tools like Excel and PowerPoint, plus experience with Sharepoint.
    • Preferred experience includes coating processes, polymer chemistry, mechanical property testing, and statistical data analysis.

    • Location: Waterford, New York.
    • Term: Summer 2027 (10-12 weeks between May and August).
    • Status: Full-time (40 hours per week).
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour.
