About the role#
The Analytical Chemistry Intern will work with the Waterford Analytical team to characterize and evaluate silicone materials. You will gain hands-on experience by working alongside scientists and technicians on projects related to research, process development, manufacturing support, and troubleshooting. You will also complete an internship project and present your findings to technical leadership.
What you'll do#
- Support the analytical characterization of silicone materials using techniques like NMR, FTIR, rheology, thermal analysis, and chromatography.
- Prepare and analyze samples, collect experimental data, and keep accurate laboratory records.
- Assist with research, process development, and troubleshooting projects.
- Perform data analysis using laboratory software and Microsoft Excel.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations that summarize your findings.
- Participate in safety initiatives and follow laboratory procedures and environmental, health, and safety requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related field.
- Completed coursework in general chemistry and laboratory sciences, with analytical chemistry coursework preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and data analysis skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in a laboratory environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment.
- Interest in analytical instrumentation, materials characterization, and industrial research and development.
- Must be actively enrolled in a degree program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the internship.
