About the role#
The Application Development Lab Intern assists our technical and commercial teams by testing and evaluating construction materials like sealants, coatings, and adhesives. You will gain hands-on experience in a laboratory environment while helping to assess new products and improve existing solutions for the building and construction industry. This role involves technical problem-solving, materials characterization, and performance testing.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and mix material samples following test specifications and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct physical, chemical, and mechanical performance testing on products.
- Record, organize, and analyze test results.
- Maintain lab equipment, ensuring cleanliness, calibration, and safety compliance.
- Support scale-up or pilot testing efforts.
- Assist in drafting technical reports, test summaries, and data presentations.
- Participate in project meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Help improve lab workflows, material inventory, and data management processes.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Completion of at least one prior laboratory course.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accurate documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of lab safety and chemical handling procedures.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and data organization tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
