About the role#
MNP is hiring an Accounting Summer Student for a 4-month term from May 2027 to August 2027. You will work with our Assurance and Accounting team to provide financial information that helps clients make informed business decisions. This is a full-time, paid position based in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills in audits, compilations, reviews, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply your knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Investigate and fix discrepancies in financial documents and reports.
- Set up files for new clients and manage multiple projects at once.
- Perform walk-throughs for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and capital assets.
- Create technical reports, client summaries, and presentations to share engagement findings.
- Work alongside the engagement team and build relationships with client contacts.
- Travel as needed to meet business requirements.
What you'll need#
- You are working toward a bachelor degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- You are completing the prerequisites for the CPA Professional Education Program.
- Previous office experience in accounting is an asset.
- Experience in customer or client service is helpful.
- Familiarity with tax and accounting software is considered an asset.
