About the role#
MNP is seeking a Summer Student to join the Assurance and Accounting team in Leduc for the summer of 2027. This full-time, on-site position focuses on providing tailored financial information to help clients make informed business decisions. You will work within a professional team to support various accounting and assurance engagements.
What you'll do#
- Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition, and payroll.
- Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports.
- Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies in financial entries and documents.
- Set up files for new clients and businesses while managing multiple files simultaneously.
- Prepare correspondence, technical reports, and client summaries.
- Collaborate with the client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts.
- Contribute to process improvements using internal programs and systems.
What you'll need#
- Completion of, or working towards, a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Completion of, or working towards, prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Previous accounting office experience is an asset.
- Customer or client service experience is an asset.
- Experience with accounting and tax software is an asset.
- Flexibility to travel as necessary.
