About the role#
This is an 8-month co-op position for a CPA Articling Student within the Assurance and Accounting team, starting in January 2027. You will work on-site in Calgary, Alberta, supporting clients by providing tailored financial information and assisting with diverse reporting needs.
What you'll do#
- Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset transactions.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports to summarize current status.
- Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies or irregularities in financial documents and reports.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards while managing multiple client files.
- Collaborate with engagement teams and prepare technical reports or client summaries.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Working towards the necessary prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Program upon graduation.
- Previous office experience in an accounting environment is an asset.
- Experience in customer or client service is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
