About the role#
This is a paid, full-time co-op position for an eight-month term running from January 2027 through August 2027. You will work on-site in Medicine Hat, Alberta, as part of the Assurance and Accounting team.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset transactions.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports by collecting and summarizing data.
- Investigate and correct discrepancies in financial documents and reports.
- Work with the client engagement team and maintain relationships with client contacts.
- Set up files for new clients and manage multiple files at once.
- Prepare technical reports and client summaries.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
What you'll need#
- You are working toward a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- You are completing prerequisites for the CPA Professional Education Program.
- Previous experience in an accounting office is an asset.
- Experience in customer or client service is an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is an asset.
