Co-op Accountant, Assurance and Accounting

About the role#

As a Co-op Accountant with the Assurance and Accounting team, you will support clients by providing tailored financial information and contributing to audit, review, and compilation engagements. This role involves working within a team to help mid-market businesses navigate financial reporting and business advisory needs.

What you'll do#

• Build technical proficiency in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
• Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards to client files.
• Perform walk-throughs for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset transactions.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial documents and reports.
• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and technical client reports.
• Collaborate with engagement teams and maintain professional relationships with client contacts.
• Identify and contribute to new ideas for improving internal work processes.
• Manage multiple client files and assist with inventory counts.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing or completed a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
• Progress toward meeting prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
• Strong communication skills for client interaction.
• Previous office experience, customer service background, or familiarity with accounting and tax software are considered assets.
