About the role#
As a Co-op Accountant with the Assurance and Accounting team, you will support clients by providing tailored financial information to assist in their decision-making. This role involves working with a team of professionals to address the needs of clients within the current financial reporting landscape.
What you'll do#
- Develop technical skills in areas including compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards to client work.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset transactions.
- Investigate and correct discrepancies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
- Assess audit evidence for expenses, revenues, and assets.
- Collaborate with the engagement team and build professional relationships with client contacts.
- Contribute ideas to improve internal work processes and systems.
- Prepare technical reports, summaries, and correspondence for clients.
What you'll need#
- Completion of, or progress toward, a bachelor degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Completion of, or progress toward, the prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) by the start of employment.
- Previous accounting office experience is an asset.
- Customer or client service experience is an asset.
- Experience with accounting and tax software is an asset.
