About the role#
As an Accountant Intern, you will work with our Assurance and Accounting team to provide financial information and support to a diverse range of clients. You will assist in delivering tailored financial reports that help clients make informed business decisions.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards to client files.
- Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses.
- Manage multiple files simultaneously and conduct inventory counts.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital assets.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Assess audit evidence for revenues, expenses, and asset additions.
- Investigate and correct discrepancies in financial documents and entries.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Draft technical reports, client summaries, and correspondence.
- Collaborate with the engagement team and build relationships with client contacts.
- Contribute ideas to improve work processes and maintain flexibility to travel as needed.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Progressing toward the prerequisites for the CPA Professional Education Program.
- Previous office experience in an accounting role is an asset.
- Experience in client service or customer service is an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
