About the role#
As a Co-op Accountant, you will join the Assurance and Accounting team in Ottawa. This role involves working directly with clients to provide financial information and support for their business decisions. You will work on-site in a full-time capacity.
What you'll do#
- Handle compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping, and tax engagements.
- Set up files for new clients and businesses.
- Walk through accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset processes with clients.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and summarize financial status reports.
- Investigate and fix discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Create technical reports, client summaries, and correspondence regarding engagement findings.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Between 1 and 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of GAAP, SEC, and IFRS standards.
