About the role#
This internship provides experience in a busy special collections and archival environment. You will work on projects related to public access of collections, develop research guides, and analyze reference tools. You will also shadow staff at various service desks and explore different departments within the Library, Archives, and Collections Division.
What you'll do#
- Assist members of the public at the Library Registration Desk.
- Use library computer software and standard office programs like spreadsheets and documents.
- Conduct research using catalogs, search systems, and databases.
- Select and prioritize collection materials for learning tools based on established standards.
- Attend three in-person professional development seminars.
- Prepare and deliver a final presentation at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student, or graduation within the past 12 months.
- Pursuit of or a completed degree in Library/Info Science, History, Public History, Social Science, or Humanities.
- Experience with primary source research.

- Location: St Paul, Minnesota.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 19, 2027 to May 23, 2027).
- Schedule: Part-time, 8-15 hours per week, primarily Tuesday through Friday.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid position.
