About the role#
The Native American Initiatives (NAI) intern works with the NAI department and other staff to assist with program facilitation, community outreach, and administrative tasks. This is a paid, part-time, temporary position for Winter 2027. You will work 15 hours per week, with preferred shifts on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Interns are required to attend three in-person professional development seminars and present their work at the end of the term on May 23, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Plan and recruit for the Native American Museum Fellowship (NAMF).
- Manage administrative tasks and organize program materials.
- Coordinate with other departments to schedule NAMF seminar guests and internships.
- Organize 2-3 community outreach tabling events at local colleges and Native gathering spaces.
- Attend community outreach events when possible.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student, or graduation within the past 12 months.
- A background in History, Anthropology, Public History, Sociology, Library and Archives, or a related field.
- Ability to maintain an open mind and collaborate effectively in team environments.
- Discretion when handling confidential information discussed in private meetings.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing plans and priorities.
