About the role#
The Native American Initiatives (NAI) intern works with the NAI department and other teams to assist with program facilitation, community outreach, and administrative tasks. This is a part-time, temporary position for the Winter 2027 term, running from January 19, 2027, to May 23, 2027. Interns are expected to work 15 hours per week, with preferred shifts on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Participants must attend three in-person seminars and deliver a final presentation on May 23, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist with recruitment and program planning for the Native American Museum Fellowship (NAMF).
- Manage administrative tasks, including organizing program materials.
- Coordinate seminar guests and internships in collaboration with other departments.
- Organize and staff 2-3 community outreach tabling events at local colleges and Native gathering spaces.
- Attend additional community outreach events as your schedule allows.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student, or graduation within the past 12 months.
- Academic background in history, anthropology, sociology, or a related field.
- Ability to maintain an open mind and work effectively in team environments.
- Capacity to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing plans and priorities.
