About the role#
The Native American Initiatives (NAI) intern supports the NAI department through program facilitation, community outreach, and administrative work. This is a paid, part-time position running from January 19, 2027, to May 23, 2027. You will work 15 hours per week, with preferred shifts on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Interns must attend three in-person seminars and present their final work on May 23, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist with recruitment and planning for the Native American Museum Fellowship (NAMF).
- Handle administrative tasks, including the organization of program materials.
- Coordinate seminar guests and internship opportunities across different departments.
- Manage 2-3 community outreach tabling events at local colleges and Native gathering spaces.
- Attend community outreach events as your schedule allows.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student, or graduation within the last 12 months.
- A degree or progress toward a degree in History, Anthropology, Public History, Sociology, Library and Archives, or a related field.
- The ability to maintain an open mind and work well in teams.
- Discretion when handling confidential information.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing plans and priorities.

- This position is based on-site at the History Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
- The pay rate is $17.02 per hour.
