    About the role#

    This internship offers experience in history education through the Chicago Metro History Day program. You will gain insight into public history, museum education, and program coordination. The role is designed for students interested in how historical institutions support student research and inquiry.

    What you'll do#

    • Learn event management skills within a public history setting.
    • Coach students to improve their historical research and arguments.
    • Prepare learning materials to support historical inquiry.
    • Curate suggested topics and resources for the annual theme.
    • Support communications, public outreach, and teacher professional development programming.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a major in history, education, or a closely related field.
    • Availability on Saturday, February 27, 2027, for the Senior Division contest.
    • Availability on Saturday, March 6, 2027, for the Junior Division contest.
    • Ability to pass a background check and meet vaccination requirements.

    Location & details#

    • The internship runs from October 2026 through March 2027.
    • Work is hybrid, involving both remote and on-site hours.
    • This is a paid position.
