About the role#
Conner Prairie is hiring a Curatorial Fellow to support the development of a new Indigenous experience. This role focuses on historic and contemporary Native American cultures, placing Indigenous perspectives and community knowledge at the center of the project. You will spend 400 hours over a four-month period contributing to interpretive planning and research.
What you'll do#
- Conduct original research on topics like land stewardship, cultural revitalization, and ecological knowledge.
- Use primary and secondary sources, including archives, scholarly literature, and oral histories.
- Collaborate with museum staff and the Indigenous Advisory Committee to ensure research reflects community priorities.
- Connect findings to exhibit content and guest programming.
- Present your research and recommendations to the project team.
- Participate in regular project meetings to refine research goals.
What you'll need#
- You must be in progress or have recently completed a graduate-level program in a field such as History, Anthropology, Native American Studies, or Museum Studies.
- Experience working with Tribal Nations is preferred.
- Submit a resume or CV.
- Provide two relevant references.
- Include a statement of interest between 400 and 600 words detailing your career goals and relevant experience.
- Provide a 2-5 page writing sample that includes citations.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Fishers, Indiana.
- The fellowship is a paid, full-time appointment.
- The 400-hour term must occur between January 1, 2027, and June 30, 2027.
