About the role#
Encapsys, a division of Milliken & Company, is hiring an R&D intern for a year-round position in Appleton, Wisconsin. This role provides hands-on experience in the specialty chemicals industry, specifically within encapsulation technologies for the fragrance and agriculture sectors. You will work alongside engineers and scientists on projects that have a direct impact on our business. Every student receives a dedicated mentor to support their training and professional development.
What you'll do#
- Design, plan, conduct, and analyze laboratory experiments.
- Partner with scientists and engineers on lab, pilot, and production trials.
- Contribute to new product development, scale-ups, and prototype creation.
- Work on product line extensions and cost or quality improvement projects.
- Evaluate trial products and produce written summary reports or presentations.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree with a minimum 3.00 GPA.
- Enrollment in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Material Science programs.
- Preference is given to rising Juniors and Seniors.
- Ability to apply scientific principles to projects and designs.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently or within a team.
- Capability to analyze problems and recommend solutions while managing project execution.
Location & details#
- Location: Appleton, Wisconsin.
- Schedule: 12 to 20 hours per week during the academic year, with full-time hours during school breaks and summer.
- Term: Fall 2026 through Summer 2027.
- This is a paid, on-site position.
