About the role#
Milliken & Company is hiring a Chemical Engineering intern for the Allen Plant in Blacksburg, South Carolina. You will work in a manufacturing environment to apply engineering and safety principles to specific facility projects. You will be paired with a management sponsor to guide your work and help you navigate the internship. This is a full-time, on-site role for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Complete an assigned project by the end of the summer session.
- Identify and implement quality improvements related to your project.
- Find opportunities for cost reductions within your project scope.
- Participate in plant programs and processes.
- Collaborate with various departments and managers across the facility.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate Chemical Engineering program.
- Completion of your sophomore year of study.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to work full-time from late May through early August.
- Prior manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting up to 35 lbs, moving throughout the plant, and using stairs or ladders.

- Location: Blacksburg, South Carolina.
- Term: Summer 2027 (late May to early August).
- Work Modality: On-site, 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid position, and students are provided a housing allowance or mileage reimbursement based on distance.
