About the role#
We are looking for a Summer 2027 CDOT Bridge Repairs Intern to join our team in Chicago. You will support bridge projects throughout the city, assisting CDOT with emergency repair designs and on-call assignments. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week commitment for the summer.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers with project plans, drawings, design, and analysis.
- Collect, input, verify, and manipulate project data.
- Prepare basic studies, design work, and inspection reports.
- Complete calculations, including cost estimates.
- Perform routine analysis and summarize findings.
- Participate in field visits to active bridge sites around Chicago.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor or Master of Science program in Civil Engineering at an ABET accredited university.
- Completion of at least 3 years of coursework.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, IDOT, and ISHTA design and construction standards is preferred.
- A desire to pursue a career in public-sector transportation engineering.
Location & details#
- Location: Chicago, Illinois.
- Modality: Hybrid. You will work 4 days per week onsite at the CDOT office and 1 day remotely or at our Chicago office.
- Compensation: $20 to $26 per hour.
