About the role#
This position supports the Financial Aid Office through administrative tasks and first-level counseling. You will assist students and parents with financial aid information while helping staff manage critical processing workflows. This is a part-time role for the 2026-27 academic year.
What you'll do#
- Act as a first-level counselor by answering phones, emails, and greeting visitors at the front counter.
- Provide guidance on financial aid programs and specific award details.
- Process outside scholarships, including communication with external organizations and coordination with the Finance Office.
- Manage academic record adjustments for Course and Program of Study processing.
- Handle incoming mail and digital documents, including scanning and indexing files into student records.
- Use software systems such as Oracle, Banner, Dynamic Forms, and secure upload portals.
- Update spreadsheets to track check processing.
- Perform basic edits to office webpages using the Cascade content management system.
- Prepare financial aid mailings and assist staff with special projects.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
What you'll need#
- General computer knowledge, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Interest in working with numbers.
- Ability to communicate clearly with students and parents via phone and email.
- Capacity to explain complex procedures and maintain composure during stressful conversations.
- Commitment to practicing extreme confidentiality regarding sensitive student data.
- Experience with Banner or similar financial aid software is preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with webpage editing are preferred.

- Location: Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $9.50 per hour.
- Dress code: Office/business casual during summer hours; student attire is acceptable during the school year.
