About the role#
The Multicultural Scholar Programs at Messiah University hires students to serve as mentors for first-year students. Mentors help new students navigate their transition to college life. This involves offering guidance on academic, social, and spiritual growth while sharing information about leadership opportunities on campus.
What you'll do#
- Mentor 3-4 first-year students through monthly sessions.
- Provide one-on-one support to help students adjust to university life.
- Help plan and run 3 social events for the program each semester.
- Attend a mandatory training session in August and monthly mentor meetings.
- Submit timely reports and evaluations for all program activities.
What you'll need#
- A commitment to participate in the program for the full 2026-27 academic year.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
- Majors in Psychology, Sociology, Communications, Human Resources, or Philosophy are preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
- Term: Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.
- Pay: $8.50 per hour.
- Modality: On-site.
