About the role#
This position supports the daily operations of the Messiah University Archives. You will work under the supervision of the Director and Assistant Director to manage archival holdings and assist with office tasks during the 2026-27 academic year. Weekly hours are flexible and determined by you and the Director.
What you'll do#
- Inventory, evaluate, file, and catalog archival materials.
- Digitize items and create associated metadata.
- Provide research assistance for the Director.
- Serve as the office and telephone receptionist.
- Handle general administrative duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- An interest in history and strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Photoshop.
- A pleasant personality for greeting visitors and answering phones.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stand, and reach shelving up to six feet high.
- Prior experience in an office, library, or archive is valued.

- Compensation: $8.00 per hour.
