About the role#
Messiah University is hiring a student lifeguard for the 2026-27 academic year. This is a part-time, on-site position based in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. You will supervise the pool during various activities, including open swim, lap swim, swim meets, and rental groups.
What you'll do#
- Provide constant supervision of the pool area and enforce all safety rules.
- Test chlorine and pH levels in both pools on a set schedule.
- Operate pool vacuums two to three times per week.
- Keep the pool deck clean and organize equipment.
- Adjust lane lines to support different pool activities.
- Complete occasional projects as assigned by the aquatics director.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
What you'll need#
- Current certifications in lifeguard, first aid, CPR, and AED.
- A mature and dependable attitude.
- The ability to stay calm and respond effectively during emergencies.
- A desire to keep your skills and knowledge current.
- Willingness to wear the required lifeguard t-shirt and appropriate swimwear while on duty.

- Location: Mechanicsburg, PA.
- Pay: $12.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Rolling term.
