About the role#
The Clinical Nursing Student role at Lourdes Hospital provides hands-on clinical experience within the Adult Behavioral Health Unit. You will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to gain exposure to patient care, develop your critical thinking skills, and collaborate with a healthcare team. This position is designed to support your growth as you progress through your nursing education.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care, including recording vital signs, assisting with personal hygiene, and helping with mobility, feeding, and hydration.
- Support the Registered Nurse in applying the nursing process and participate in patient data collection.
- Act as a liaison between patients and the nursing staff to report changes or concerns.
- Document patient care accurately and participate in hand-off reports.
- Assist with unit-based specialty duties and utilize clinical technology as needed.
- Perform delegated tasks once your competency has been validated.
- Escalate concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
- Provide customer service to patients, families, and visitors.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a nursing program with at least one completed clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow directions from the healthcare team.
- Knowledge of patient safety standards, infection prevention, and team dynamics.
- A compassionate, relationship-based approach to care.
- Accountability for assigned tasks, professional conduct, and problem-solving skills.
- BLS certification is preferred.
- Recent experience in an acute or long-term care facility is preferred.
- EPIC Electronic Health Record training is preferred.
