About the role#
As a Nurse Extern, you will work under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse to provide direct patient care. This role is based in Mayfield, Kentucky, and operates on a PRN schedule.
What you'll do#
- Perform direct patient care and document the care provided.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to the supervising registered nurse.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, and elimination.
- Collaborate with the care team and across disciplines to coordinate patient care.
- Evaluate the learning needs of patients and families to provide appropriate education.
- Act as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Maintain positive professional relationships with patients, families, and coworkers.
- Support performance improvement initiatives, attend meetings, and assist with the orientation of personnel and students.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a 3rd year student or higher in a School of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
