About the role#
The Engineering Intern Co-op will report to the Regional Lean Specialist to support the deployment, evaluation, and implementation of Lean methodologies. This role focuses on improving performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost by working directly with employees at all levels within the plant.
What you'll do#
- Identify process gaps and implement improvement activities to enhance key business metrics.
- Manage lean transformational projects and activities at the plant level.
- Facilitate Value Stream Maps and Kaizen/Impact Events, including A3 charter creation, pre-work identification, and project sustainment.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to help teams apply Lean concepts to local situations.
- Establish performance measures and report on progress against plant objectives.
- Collaborate with the automation team to optimize processes and build justifications for automation projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Smartsheets.
- Ability to lead and influence others without formal control.
- Capability to work independently as a self-starter who can build relationships and earn trust.
- Ability to travel 20-50% to other facilities or shops.
- Energy and initiative to drive outcomes while balancing multiple priorities.
