About the role#
The Engineering Intern role reports to the Regional Lean Specialist. You will support the deployment, evaluation, and implementation of Lean methods within the Marmon Transportation Group. This position focuses on improving performance in safety, quality, and cost while working directly with employees across all levels of the plant.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the local team to identify process gaps and implement improvement activities.
- Manage lean transformational activities and projects at a plant.
- Facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps and Kaizen or Impact Events.
- Provide formal and informal training, coaching, and mentoring to employees.
- Help the automation team optimize processes and build justifications for automation projects.
- Work with site leadership to conduct assessments of critical sites and business needs.
- Establish and implement performance measures and report progress against plant objectives.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or Operations Management.
- Ability to travel 20-50% to other facilities and shops.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Smartsheets.
- Ability to lead and influence others without formal control.
- Energy, enthusiasm, and initiative to create programs and drive outcomes.
- Independent, self-starter mindset with the ability to build relationships and earn trust.

- Compensation: $20.70 - $25.30 per hour.
