About the role#
Join our team to help build the next generation of surgical robotics. This is a 6 to 9 month co-op position where you will work alongside a multidisciplinary R&D group. You will focus on the design, construction, and evaluation of a robotic testbed specifically for image-guided surgical applications.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and test a robotic mechatronics testbed.
- Develop and integrate mechanical components, motion stages, sensors, actuators, and control hardware.
- Support the integration of your testbed with robotic control algorithms, user interfaces, and software components.
- Use rapid prototyping methods like CAD, 3D printing, assembly, soldering, wiring, and benchtop testing.
- Document your designs, experiments, and test results for the broader robotics team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with mechatronics design, prototyping, motion control, or hardware integration.
- Familiarity with CAD tools, specifically SolidWorks.
- Experience with rapid prototyping, 3D printing, servo actuation, motion controllers, or basic PCB and wiring.
- A strong interest in surgical robotics, medical devices, or healthcare technology.
- Curiosity and a collaborative approach to working in an R&D lab environment.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- The position is on-site and full-time.
- This co-op is for the Fall 2026 term.
- You must have existing US work authorization, as we do not provide sponsorship for this role.
- Pay ranges from $29.00 to $32.00 per hour, and the role is eligible for overtime.
