About the role#
As a Financial Planning Intern at Mariner, you will support our staff in servicing high net worth and ultra high net worth clients. This role provides hands-on experience in holistic financial planning and client relationship management. You will build foundational skills in advisory, consulting, and business development by assisting with client onboarding, meeting preparation, and plan creation.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and process paperwork for client onboarding.
- Schedule client meetings and create materials to explain financial concepts.
- Observe client meetings to learn how advisors solve client challenges.
- Conduct follow-up tasks such as research, documentation, and solution development.
- Use financial planning and CRM software for data management and plan modeling.
- Assist with account maintenance and money movement processes.
- Contribute ideas during team discussions regarding client service and business development.
- Collaborate on special projects and client service initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor or master degree with graduation expected within 12 months.
- A major in wealth management, financial planning, finance, or a related field.
- Demonstrated leadership through work or extracurricular activities.
- An interest in a client-facing advisory career.
- Strong customer service orientation and time management skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex topics in a simple, relatable way.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with a willingness to learn new software.
- Curiosity about financial markets, planning strategies, and client decision-making.
