About the role#
As a Universal Banking Intern at First Bank & Trust, you will learn how community banking works by rotating through core departments. You will gain insight into business units including Wealth Management and see the internal operations of Credit Review and Operations. This internship provides an opportunity to work with industry experts and connect with department leaders.
What you'll do#
- Rotate through Retail Banking, Consumer, Business, Ag, and Mortgage Lending.
- Participate in customer interactions by identifying needs, recommending products, and building relationships.
- Handle retail banking tasks such as processing transactions, cash handling, and balancing cash drawers.
- Shadow the lending process, including loan file development, underwriting, and closing.
- Learn about Wealth Management services like financial planning, trusts, and investment management.
- Use banking systems and apply knowledge of banking regulations.
- Attend committee meetings and professional development sessions.
- Prepare a final presentation for key stakeholders at the end of the internship.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all customer interactions.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year of business-related coursework in a higher learning setting or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to maintain integrity and honesty when handling sensitive information.

- Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
- Modality: This is an on-site position.
- Employment: Part-time, paid internship.
- Academic focus: Business Administration, Finance, or Economics majors preferred.
