About the role#
This internship provides a first-hand look at careers in community banking. You will rotate through core departments, including Retail Banking, Consumer, Business, Ag, and Mortgage Lending. You will also gain insight into Wealth Management and observe operations in Credit Review.
What you'll do#
- Work with industry experts to identify and differentiate banking products and services.
- Participate in the customer experience by identifying needs and maintaining relationships.
- Handle general retail functions, such as processing transactions, cash handling, and balancing cash drawers.
- Shadow the lending process from start to finish, including observing customer meetings.
- Compile underwriting information and analyze credit data using internal policies and guidelines.
- View the full loan lifecycle, from processing and servicing to closing.
- Learn about Wealth Management services, including trusts, financial planning, and investment management.
- Develop a working knowledge of banking regulations and internal systems.
- Attend department meetings and professional development sessions.
- Prepare a final presentation for key stakeholders at the end of your internship.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all company compliance procedures.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year of business-related coursework in a higher learning setting or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- A commitment to maintaining integrity and professional standards.

- This is a part-time, paid internship.
- The role is based on-site in Brookings, South Dakota.
- The internship term operates on a rolling basis.
