About the role#
Mariner is hiring a Tax Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in Cincinnati, Ohio. You will work 40 hours per week from January 13 to April 15, 2027. This role focuses on supporting our work with high net worth individuals, covering areas such as personal, fiduciary, partnership, and gift tax returns.
What you'll do#
- Prepare tax returns, estimated tax vouchers, extension forms, and supporting work papers.
- Organize and maintain client tax files and electronic records.
- Reconcile client information and review tax documents for accuracy.
- Conduct basic tax research and gather information for inquiries from taxing authorities.
- Collaborate with tax and wealth advisory teams on client service initiatives.
- Participate in training sessions, associate meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Follow firm quality control procedures and maintain client confidentiality.
- Assist with administrative tasks and special projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date within 24 months of the internship start.
- Demonstrated leadership experience through work or extracurricular activities.
- Strong aptitude for numbers and detailed calculations.
- Basic knowledge of accounting or tax principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Willingness to learn specialized tax planning and preparation software.
- Ability to work well in a team and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A high level of discretion when handling sensitive information.
