About the role#
The Financial Planning Intern will assist our staff in serving high net worth clients through holistic financial planning and relationship support. You will gain foundational advisory and consultative skills by working directly with advisors on client onboarding, meeting preparation, and the creation of financial plans. This role offers hands-on experience in a professional office environment.
What you'll do#
- Support client onboarding by preparing and processing paperwork.
- Assist in scheduling meetings and creating materials to explain financial concepts.
- Observe client meetings to see how advisors build relationships and solve challenges.
- Help with follow-up tasks such as research, documentation, and solution development.
- Use financial planning and CRM software for data management and plan modeling.
- Support daily client service activities, including account maintenance and money movement.
- Contribute ideas during team discussions about client service and business development.
- Collaborate on special projects and help compile plan deliverables.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor or master degree and expect to graduate within 12 months of the internship start.
- A major in wealth management, financial planning, finance, or a related field.
- Demonstrated leadership experience through work or extracurricular activities.
- An interest in a client-facing advisory career.
- Strong customer service orientation and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics simply.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, plus a willingness to learn new planning tools.
- Comfort contributing ideas in group settings.

- This is a paid, full-time internship based on-site in Overland Park, Kansas.
