About the role#
Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking interns and co-ops to support construction management and project controls within its refining facilities. This role involves working alongside contractors and specialists on industrial construction projects, ranging in scale from tens of thousands to billions of dollars. You will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, from initial scope and budget development through to construction and startup.
What you'll do#
- Apply construction management and project control principles to facility projects.
- Plan and schedule materials, labor, and equipment.
- Track and analyze project costs against control budgets.
- Ensure compliance with document control procedures and maintain audit trails for project decisions and risk mitigation.
- Assist with bid preparation, contract awards, and administration.
- Monitor contractor productivity and performance, including preparing schedule updates and critical path analysis.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree-seeking program in Construction Management, Construction Science, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related discipline.
- Strong academic performance.
- A valid driver's license.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time, indefinite basis without the need for visa sponsorship.
- Preference is given to candidates available for multiple work terms.
