About the role#
Interns and co-ops join as integral team members, working on diverse industrial construction projects within Marathon Petroleum facilities. You will apply principles from construction management and project controls coursework to real-world scenarios, ranging from small-scale tasks to multi-billion dollar projects. Throughout the term, you will develop skills in scope, budget, and schedule development, supported by company training and professional mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Plan and schedule materials, labor, and equipment for construction activities.
- Track and analyze project costs against control budgets.
- Ensure compliance with document control procedures and processes.
- Prepare documentation for project decisions, risk mitigation, bid preparation, and contract administration.
- Monitor contractor productivity and performance, including schedule updates and critical path analysis.
- Collaborate with contractors and construction specialists on industrial projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree-seeking program in Construction Management, Construction Science, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Strong academic performance.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week on-site.
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, indefinite basis without the need for visa sponsorship.
- Availability for multiple work terms is preferred.

- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship for the Fall 2027 term.
- Positions are available in Findlay, OH; Anacortes, WA; Wilmington, CA; Canton, OH; Catlettsburg, KY; Salt Lake City, UT; Garyville, LA; Robinson, IL; Detroit, MI; and Texas City, TX.
