About the role#
As an Electrical Engineering intern or co-op at a Marathon refinery, you will gain hands-on experience in a professional industrial environment. You will work alongside teams of professionals responsible for specific portions of the refining process, helping you understand how various engineering disciplines collaborate. You will have the opportunity to work across multiple areas of the refinery to develop a broad understanding of plant operations while building your written and verbal presentation skills.
What you'll do#
Depending on your specific assignment, you may support one of the following areas:
- Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Project Engineering: Manage real-world projects by developing skills in scope alignment, cost and schedule development, and teamwork through various engineering phases.
- Reliability Engineering: Analyze equipment failures and develop solutions for recurring difficulties. This includes using electrical analysis software, running Arc Flash studies, and learning about Refinery Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Process Control / Technical Service Engineering: Support process control systems by troubleshooting power supply problems, programming control systems, managing hardware and software lifecycle replacements, and maintaining communication networks.
Regardless of the focus, you will support area teams and become familiar with industry codes and best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Electrical Engineering degree program.
- Strong academic performance.
- A valid driver's license.
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Availability for multiple work terms is preferred.
- Military experience is considered a plus.

- Compensation: This is a paid position with an hourly rate range of $32.92 to $41.67.
- Term: Fall 2027.
