About the role#
As a Nurse Intern, you will work in an acute care environment to build your clinical skills at the bedside. This position requires the completion of 300 hours and operates on a PRN, variable schedule designed to accommodate academic commitments. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to support patient care and gain hands-on experience.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary patient care team.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions and observations.
- Document patient care activities.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and nutrition.
- Support patient transfers, admissions, and discharges.
- Provide patient and family education.
- Advocate for the physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being of patients.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement, safety, and quality initiatives.
- Assist with orientation and training activities.
- Attend required meetings and competency validations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing as a third-year student or higher.
- An Associate's degree, though a BSN is preferred.
- A current Tennessee or compact state RN license.
- Ability to obtain AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise decisive judgment.
- Capacity to work independently with appropriate supervision.
- Ability to work in a high-stress clinical environment.
- One year of previous experience is preferred.
