    About the role#

    The Nurse Extern program provides nursing students with hands-on clinical experience before graduation. You will work on the Neuro PCU unit, which specializes in stroke and seizure care. This role is designed to transition into a New Grad RN position on the same unit after you graduate and obtain your license. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse at all times.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with patient assessments, care planning, and nursing interventions.
    • Administer medications and manage IV pump rates, fluids, and blood products.
    • Initiate, titrate, and discontinue oxygen.
    • Collect patient data using the electronic medical record system.
    • Identify and report changes in patient status to your supervising RN.
    • Collaborate with clinical case managers and other healthcare disciplines.
    • Observe medical procedures and participate in unit-specific activities.
    • Follow safety standards and complete required compliance training.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in an accredited nursing program with graduation expected within 1 year.
    • Ability to graduate on your initial anticipated date.
    • Current BLS certification.
    • Ability to pass Nursing State Boards within 90 days of graduation.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Tucson, Arizona.
    • Work modality: On-site.
    • Schedule: Part-time, minimum of 12 hours per month, not to exceed 20 hours per week.
