About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Kroger, you will work within our pharmacy department to support daily operations and provide service to our customers. This role involves direct interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacy staff to ensure accurate prescription processing and medication safety.
What you'll do#
- Welcome customers and answer questions regarding pharmacy products and store items.
- Input patient and prescription data into the computer system.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions for new fills and refills.
- Dispense medication and provide drug counseling to customers.
- Assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Process third-party insurance information and facilitate customer purchases.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused bottles to stock.
- Keep the pharmacy department clean and organized.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management or the pharmacist on duty.
- Provide support to diverse customer groups, including older adults, minors, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a United States school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- Skills to manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and professional manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity when handling customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and ask for help when resolving issues.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
