About the role#
We are hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for our Utilities and Central Energy department. This is a paid, full-time position for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site at one of our locations in Lexington, Cincinnati, or St Paul. This role involves hands-on experience in the consulting engineering industry, including work on real projects and field site visits.
What you'll do#
- Visit project sites to collect field information.
- Perform engineering calculations to support project design.
- Create and update Excel spreadsheets for document preparation.
- Write technical reports.
- Participate in meetings by sharing analysis, input, and recommendations.
- Help develop and maintain project schedules.
- Manage your own workload across assigned activities to meet deadlines.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field.
- You have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- You are proficient with computer technology, especially MS Office.
- You can work well both independently and as part of a team.
- You are willing to travel when required.
- You demonstrate professional engineering ethics.
- We prefer candidates who have completed at least two years of college coursework.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit is a plus.
- An interest in building systems, construction environments, or commercial HVAC is helpful.
- You should be comfortable working in both office settings and construction sites.
